The Success Quest Path
The journey to a college degree involves three basic steps with your Success Quest consultant. We guide each family as they select schools that best suit the student, apply to those institutions, and successfully transition to university life.
Selecting Your College
The first step culminates in the creation of a list of institutions that meet the needs of both the student and family. We begin by devoting time to get to know you. Together we evaluate your academic progress, review family and individual goals, and start the process of comparing schools across the country. As part of our exploration of potential matches, each family considers what drives their choice and examines school size, location, distance from home, majors, student activities, and a number of other important characteristics. Our intentional and methodical path to college selection enables students and families to identify schools that meet their needs and where they may reasonably expect to gain admission. We also help the student position themselves for admission to their institution of choice by preparing them for campus visits, planning test-taking and test-prep strategies, and managing extra-curricular involvement.
Applying to Your College
After we arrive at a narrow list of colleges that best meet the needs of the student and family, the Success Quest consultants assist you in navigating each school’s application process. We help the student as they build a resume from which to write essays and provide the most relevant and critical information for inclusion in application. We guide each family through the maze of admission, financial aid application, and scholarship deadlines. Finally, we consult with each family as they make final decisions, manage waitlists, and navigate potential rejection.
Connecting to Your College
The last step in the transition to college life proves one of the most challenging and important phases of this process. Students moving away from home into the college environment are particularly vulnerable, and national attrition statistics indicate that the first semester of freshman year is a key indicator of a student’s likeliness to persist to graduation. Unfortunately, this critical period is often overlooked and consequently, many students fail to receive the vital support and preparation necessary for a successful college career. This transformation period is made much easier by your Success Quest consultants. We present parent resources, as well as provide guidance for the student as they seek to adjust to their first semester away from home and avail themselves of ample campus resources. A student’s connection to campus life, resources, and peers during their first semester provides a solid foundation for a successful college career.
